Seraphim Falls and Bicycle Bobby

Lovely weather we're having, eh?

In keeping with the movie theme to my blog...
Saw the early screening of Seraphim Falls at the Angelika. It was alright. Pierce and Liam acted well but other than that acting was mediocre. The actually story failed to intrigue me, overly predictable. Its one long chase scene that ends rather weird and anticlimatic. This movie opens tomorrow... but I would say spend your money on something else.

In other news...
I was able to find a production assistant position on a film called Bicycle Bobby. Their goal is to get it into Sundance! This will be a great opportunity and I'm excited to be apart of it. So I'll be busy every weekend until march 1st.

I'm still doing the happy dance as this has been one of the nicest days in a long time.
Tell me any movies you've seen recently in theaters I should go see!

Pan's Labyrinth

wow speechless!
In spite of the graphic violence this movie was amazing!
A gruesome fairy tale in the middle of warring Spain it was unique and moving. All of the acting was superb.
I loved it. Its really strange, so if you're not really a movie enthusiast you probably won't enjoy it, but if you want a interesting story that will make you cringe, cry and smile here and there along the way, then go!
Enjoy your day.

The Snow Duel

OKAY! its ready except for one last finishing touch. I'm excited to show it, but it's definitely a childrens film hopefully I can get it into a children's film festival! that would be amazing.
I wrote it
I shot it over the break in colorado on a cannon gl2 (unfortunately I didn't have a quality mic so my sound isn't as polished as I wished it to be)
I edited it these last 2 weeks
yay for my first short made all by my onesome!

I just wanted to give you the heads up if you were interested in making something!!!

Everything is Illuminated...

with the past.
What's the best way to spend a snowday? Watching movies of course!
Everything is Illuminated was marvelous! I absolutely loved the cinematography, acting, and even more so the story! We are brought together because our pasts exist and linger. The people we encounter become part of our lives, they are right there along side us.

There was a nice mix of flashback, dreams, and reality to make it a puzzle to put together, not too hard but vague enough to keep you engaged. I also loved how they paralled the old-school vs. new school lifestyles developing in the Ukraine, how the next generations don't know what Ukraine was like before the war. But with these revelations about the past the present is illuminated! An enlightened perspective on your life and how it affects everything and how everything affects it.

Just some thoughts to chew on.

The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy & Other Stories

The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy & Other Stories

By Tim Burton. One of my most favorite directors.

Let me grace you with a poem:

Stick Boy and Match Girl in Love

Stick Boy liked Match Girl
he liked her a lot.
He liked her cute figure,
he thought she was hot.

But could a flame ever burn
for a match and a stick?
It did quite litterally;
he burned up pretty quick
