A bittersweet ending

Bicycle Bobby (the independent production I've been working as a production assistant on) wrapped last night. Very sad. But its been so much fun working with everyone and making friends. And with all that I've been given two more jobs for this summer!

I'm working on a short called Why do I Look Like My Father? and a feature called Deception, which is about an american family destroyed by greed. On both of these I will be working as an assistant director trainee. I'm excited!

I love filmmaking!

School has been good (I'm a co-program director for KCBY next year!) and stressful (AP tests, Finals, SAT all around the corner... plus multiple projects).

I'm pretty happy, and that's a thing good for me. :-)

Life isn't fair and neither is film...

My short film showed at my church's film festival for high school kids, and being completely unbaised as I can, it was probably the best out of the 5 total films. But did it win? Nope. Well was the film that won at least one of the better ones? No, Ryan's was awesome and freaked me out. Harry/Erik's actually had a great plot. Kristen's was super well edited. And Who won? the film a kid submitted about beating down his friend and then running over him, all over a burger. Not to mention the fact all he did was act in it.

Punch-the-guy-in-the-balls humor is all that sells in theaters these days. A great movie will never be seen because no one appreciates real filmmaking these days. It's like the whole population wants to see something monkeys can do... As long as they don't have to think, its good.
It's frustrating.

I make films for people who want a story, who want to think, who want something to change. And I'm happy doing just that... even if I never get recognition.

The Last Mimsy

Tonight I went and saw The Last Mimsy with my brother and parents. It was overall a very well done film. Decent acting (a few cheesy lines i could deal with) and an interesting plot. The cinematography was okay, a few shots were distracting or annoying but most were pretty good. My brother actually tried out for the boy's role in this film. Great film to take the kids you babysit to. :-)
